  Kids On The Go

  Nowadays kids have very busy schedules, full of school and after school activities - Gymnastics at 2 pm on Tuesday, swimming at 4 pm on Wednesday, and school play on Fridays.   Nowadays kids have very busy schedules, full of school and after school activities - Gymnastics at 2 pm on Tuesday, swimming at 4 pm on Wednesday, and school play on Fridays. For parents who are working full time, finding time to drive their kids to those activities is a huge challenge. Many parents work around their work schedule to find time to drive their kids around; some ask relatives, some hire chauffeurs. All that can be very inconvenient, stressful, frustrating and costly. “Kids on the Go” aims to provide parents in the Bay Area with safe, secure, reliable, and moderately priced transportation service for their young children.

  "Unmet need"

  Children need to be transported to school, daycare, doctor visits, summer camps, after school programs etc. We believe that there is huge unmet need for such a service. There are just a couple of companies providing this service, and they are very small. During our interview with the parents from South Bay, most of them are willing to pay for this service. 8 Out of 10 parents have shown interest in this kind of service. Our differentiation strategy is to partner with successful private business like Kumon classes, Karate, Swimming schools etc and help them understand the value that we can provide in expanding their clientele. Parents will be more willing to have their kids join these classes when they do not have to worry about all the planning and scheduling.

  Target Market:

  Working parents with kids who attend after school activities.

  Market Penetration:

  We will advertise directly to parents outside of the schools and child care centers. If any parents are interested in our service, we will invite them to visit our care centers. In addition, we will offer free trial service to attract potential customers. We will also approach activity centers for partnership and cooperation that will generate steady revenue.

  Special Features:

  Safety of the child is the number one priority for parents. Our company with emphasize on Safety as a core of our business model. We will hire certified drivers with excellent driving and clean criminal history, who have child care experience and skills. All the drivers must pass rigid test and complete special training before they work as drivers. The most important thing is that we will install monitoring and tracking system on the cars and parents will have a chance to always monitor their kids. Our cars and vans will be equipped with latest safety features. Also, at “Kids on the Go” we believe when your children are transported by us, we love and care for them like they are our own, so we make sure all drivers and passengers abide by our Safety Pledge.

  Advantage: With our products consumers can overcome the technical barriers of using 3D printers. Our market place creates an ecosystem of 3D printer users and 3D model designers. We can profit from both printer hardware sales and the online marketplace.

  Benefits: We provide a whole new way to manufacture, sell and purchase products, and unleash the creativity and productivity of our customers. Inexperienced users can quickly and easily start printing interesting and useful 3D objects; consumers can purchase products and have them printed on their desks within a few minutes; skilled users, artists and designers can sell their 3D models and monetize on their creativity and imagination.

  Customer: Our initial target customers are students, artists, crafters, and hobbyists. Our products are very useful to their projects requiring special 3D objects, and they are willing to try new technologies.

  Doable: Our team consists of a software engineer, a hardware engineer, a marketing specialist and a program manager. We have extensive experience and breadth of knowledge covering all aspects of designing, launching and servicing a product.

  Food testing for ingredients present in trace amounts

  Problem Definition There are many people who chose to be vegetarians for various reasons. The consumer market for vegetarian products has increased in the last years.   Problem Definition

  There are many people who chose to be vegetarians for various reasons. The consumer market for vegetarian products has increased in the last years. Even restaurants are including more vegetarian choices in their menus to attract more customers. Vegetarians don’t have a way to really know if the packaged products they consume are truly vegetarian and free of non-vegetarian ingredients. They rely on the product label and the list of ingredients. Trace ingredients might not be included in the ingredient list especially when trace amounts of meat or animal products are present as a result of food preparation.

  Similarly, allergens might be present in packaged foods and potentially cause adverse reactions. Consumers find out about the presence of allergens in their packaged foods after the voluntary recalling of the food product is initiated. By then some consumers might have already consumed the food product and experienced allergic reactions

  Solution- Start a lab testing company to test traces of allergens, meat or animal products. We will use the isotopic signature of Carbon and Deuterium to find if a product contains a specific allergen, meat or animal product. Carbon and Deuterium analysis is currently used to find the origin of food products and migration of animals. Our lab will purchase a high precision Carbon and Deuterium analyzer to perform isotopic analysis and test for traces of allergens, meat or animal products.

  Advantages- At the moment, there aren’t any labs or methods that identify ingredients present in trace amounts. Our lab will analyze food products to find if allergens, meat or animal products are present. Allergic reactions can be avoided. Food products that are falsely labeled as vegetarian can be identified.

  Benefits- Consumers can enjoy their favorite food products without having to worry about potential allergens. Vegetarians can be certain that their vegetarian foods don’t contain animal or meat product.

  Customer- Our customers are supermarkets, food companies, government agencies, consumers and potentially restaurants.

  Doable- We need to raise money to purchase a Carbon and Deuterium analyzer. There are many potential customers and the money invested in the equipment can be quickly recovered.

  How many times have you or anyone you know:

  -Gone to a store only to find that a certain item not there?

  -Called multiple stores inquiring about a certain product?

  -Searched all over the web trying to locate an item that is being quickly sold-out everywhere?

  It's a common problem that nearly every person who has been to a store has experienced at some point. Luckily, there is a project in the works to ease these common issues that we all face.

  The completed project, in the form of an app and website, will basically serve as a more direct link between stores and potential customers. The main goal is to get rid of aimless wanderings and to direct people exactly where the product(s) they want is located in the precise moment that the individual is searching for it. The project will contain a variety of other tools that will make shopping in general much easier, and hopefully enjoyable.

  Now, you may be thinking that "there's an app for that", but the reality is that all of the few existing apps are severely handicapped when it comes to having reliable store data and useful tools. This project will overcome current app limitations and provide a great shopping experience for everyone (details to come later).

  This project aims to ensure shopping will be less of a hassle for anyone that shops, either in-store or online.

However, we believe in giving back to the society and wish to start our pilot project in and around San Jose, our alma mater. Subsequently, rolling out our unique home food delivery model to other areas.

  4. Doable:

  There is a huge demand for home food amongst first time immigrants who resort to restaurants, fast foods or pick up basics in cooking as an alternative to regular food, with no choice but to adapt to the situation. Having been through the situation ourselves, we’ve done primary research and have been customers to the food delivery model popularly known as “Tiffin” service. Last word, there are at least 1.5 million immigrants(3) in United states as of today who understand this term and would resonate with our idea. Even if we could penetrate 1% of our target market in the first two years, we say it’s doable.

  The Internet has become as dangerous as popular. Timing and coordination play a critical role in sophisticated net-work attacks. Traffic analysis has become a critical component of network security. Recording Internet traffic for on-line analysis as an alternative to real-time diagnosis needs a traffic replayer that not only replicates packets but sends them at their original timing. This is the problem that T-Bear Network Replayer will solve.

  Our potential customers will be network equipment providers, government organizations, banks, etc. where network security is very critical.

  There are two members in our team. One co-founder has a Ph.D. degree in computer network and over 10 years working experience in network security.   SJSU On Campus Delivery Service

  My service will cater to under caffeinated, busy, and stressed faculty and students. Faculty and students will no longer arrive late to meetings or spend the day grumpy because they did not have their morning coffee. The service will deliver to any room located on campus. The problem of skipping meals or having a morning coffee will be eliminated as the meals and drinks will now come directly to the ordering customer. ...more »

  My service will cater to under caffeinated, busy, and stressed faculty and students. Faculty and students will no longer arrive late to meetings or spend the day grumpy because they did not have their morning coffee. The service will deliver to any room located on campus. The problem of skipping meals or having a morning coffee will be eliminated as the meals and drinks will now come directly to the ordering customer.

  The impact will be saved energy and time. As a commuter school, students are stressed about finding a parking space and making it to class on time. This leaves little room to eat or grab a coffee or a needed scantron for an exam.

  The target users are those who find themselves on the San Jose State Campus. The service will be available to visitors, current and past faculty and students, and anyone else on campus.

  Orders can be placed via mobile app, online, or calling. Payment will be through the SJSU Tower Card, cash or credit card. Cost will be the cost of the order. Tips are not required but are accepted.

  To execute this idea we will need a contract with the food courts on campus. We will also need students to make delivery, and a mobile app for delivery. My team has organizational skills and many contacts with administration on campus that will be able to market and promote the service.

It is a flexible tool which could encourage people to engage and study. This low table could be combined into a large working surface for group activities. The table surface could be adjusted up to 8", and it could be rotated 360 degree to fit one’s need. There is a drawers pre-installed with a large notepad for note taking and sketching. The Shack Table is a multifunction table which meets the needs in different circumstances.

  As a nation we thrive for success. United States has arguably failed its people for a sustainable future by budget cuts in educational funds. As a result, we have seen a decline interest in subject such as: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math or also known as STEM Subjects. Our mission is to get students interested into STEM subjects by offering a variety of different after school programs and re-establishing Science Fair’s. Our programs and fairs would be innovative with a more hands on approach to stimulate interest in our youth. We have researched and seen the effects of shifting education and focusing more on STEM curriculum; for this reason we want to effectively implement more into California Schooling. Currently, California ranks 47th in the nation with an anticipated success rate of just over 75%. Living in Silicon Valley we should be able to providing our students with more hand on STEM driven curriculum. Our idea will help interest students into taking a more STEM focused career path to sustain U.S. of America’s future. As a team we are driven to provide more education to our youth, involving stem subject. We have the passion, determination to see our youth flourish.   Baby Temp is a glass baby bottle that can track the temperature of the liquid inside and still have the same physical features as a baby bottle sold now. The rubber tip, located on the top of the bottle, will be made of non-chemical components for the safety of the baby and along side of the bottle will be a measurement line so the consumer can reach the exact amount of milk they want.   Baby Temp is a glass baby bottle that can track the temperature of the liquid inside and still have the same physical features as a baby bottle sold now. The rubber tip, located on the top of the bottle, will be made of non-chemical components for the safety of the baby and along side of the bottle will be a measurement line so the consumer can reach the exact amount of milk they want. A small light will be placed on the side of the lid that turns from red to green when the ideal temperature of milk is reached and the thermostat and wiring will be in an enclosed section to ensure safety for the baby and the liquid content. When first opened there will be directions to set the temperature to what the consumer prefers and the consumer may change the temperature settings whenever they would like.

  The target market of Baby Temp is directed to mothers of newborn babies. From observing my aunts, I have noticed that mothers have many things to do during the day and by having this product available to mothers, they have one less thing to worry about. The price range will be approximately $20, that way it is both affordable for mothers to buy and anyone who is shopping for a gift for a new mother. This product will be available for everyone to buy but as the main target market goes, it is directed to mothers.

  Worms stopping warming

  A big problem today is the warming of our climate due to an increase in the amount of green house gasses (GHG’s) in our atmosphere. When most people talk about global warming they talk about the amount of carbon that we are emitting, this is the most common GHG that is discussed when it comes to lowering the amount of GHG’s in the atmosphere.   A big problem today is the warming of our climate due to an increase in the amount of green house gasses (GHG’s) in our atmosphere. When most people talk about global warming they talk about the amount of carbon that we are emitting, this is the most common GHG that is discussed when it comes to lowering the amount of GHG’s in the atmosphere. Not many people talk about the other gasses in our atmosphere that lead to global warming, some even more potent than carbon dioxide, such as methane for example which is twenty one times more potent than carbon dioxide.

  Food scraps from organic foods such as fruits and vegetables that are thrown into the trash and then into a landfill create methane. This is because the organic waste goes through an anaerobic process in the landfill. According to the EPA “the largest methane emissions come from the decomposition of wastes in landfills, ruminant digestion and manure management.”

  These methane emissions can be greatly reduced by the use of vermicomposting. Vermicomposting is the composting through the use of worms, typically Eisenia foetida (better known as red wigglers), which speed up this process. The benefit of vermicomposting versus regular composting is that it is much faster and a lot less space is required. By diverting this organic trash that would otherwise end up in a landfill, we would not only be lowering dangerous methane emissions but also saving precious space in our landfills. Another benefit is the nutrient rich compost you end up with at the end, which can be sold or used on plants and lawns to enrich growth.

  This could be implemented on our (SJSU) campus using the food scraps from the dining commons, food court, and also coffee and tea grounds from Tully’s. Manure management, another large producer of methane according to the EP, can also be taken care of using vermicomposting because cow manure has also been known to be implemented in vermicomposting. If we combine these two things, food scraps from campus and cow manure using vermicomposting technology, we can take care of two huge contributors of methane.

Technology will be a key player at Global Mobile Café. We will work with mobile app developers to create an app that will allow customers to place orders in advance, locate our trucks in real time and view route schedules. We will also do our part to promote environmental sustainability by recycling used coffee grounds and only utilizing alternative plastic disposables.

  Need coffee past midnight? No worries there.   This product involves taking the very convenience of headphones and making them as simple as possible. Subtract the wire, the main corporate of frustration and focus mostly on the very idea of wireless ear buds in an ear plug format. The creation would consist of miniature padded ear plugs that automatically sync with a thumb tack, sized auxiliary cord into your device. Through the use of Bluetooth transmitted from the ear plugs to the auxiliary cord a clear, focus sound would be produced. Also, a tracking device installed would be available to view upon your interest, through an application. No need to worry about losing those Plug-Ins now do we?

  Considering market needs, the concept of this product will instantly capture the hearts of every tech savvy individual out there. My main goal is to reach the target market of Generation Z, the internet generation. Generation Z is considerably more acceptable and knowledgeably to such technology, making for a great foundation to spread word of this very product.

  With their help hopefully this very concept will one day capture the hearts of Generation Y, X and maybe even the Baby Boomers. This product holds potential and we need these target markets’ instant feedback to either continue with this remarkable notion or not. Despite the amazing developments in technology, there is a strong need in the educational market sector for serious technological improvements. In most colleges, online learning websites are available for students to use, but serve as resource centers. They are usually boring or ineffective in inspiring and sparking interest in students in learning. As a result, many students lose interest in the topic they are studying and retain less information. Fortunately, I have created a solution, “Touch-Inspire” or TI for short.

  “Touch-Inspire” is a very unique and specialized product that takes shape as a new software program; designed specifically for educating and inspiring students through an interactive hands-on learning experience. The TI software runs on an Apple operating system and touch screen monitor specially designed for TI. Since TI will be an expensive piece of software (including required hardware), the target market for this product will be universities interested in the future of learning technology, at a discounted price. Imagine being able to turn your back bright red when you plan to stop, or into a flashing arrow when you plan to turn!

  Advantage: Riding at night on a bicycle or motorcycle can be dangerous. There have been studies showing that drivers of cars typically do not perceive lights from a bicycle or motorcycle the same way they would the lights from cars. Current night time safety gear consists of singular bright lights typically mounted on the bike or attached to the rider’s helmet or backpack. The Light-jacket vest has a grid of LEDs which cover the rider’s entire back, increasing the area of light visible to those you share the road with, and bringing night-time cycling safety to a new level.

  Benefits: This will impact the lives of night-time joggers and bicyclist drastically by allowing them to SAFELY ride, exercise, and commute during low light conditions. This product will also keep riders safer during the daytime by communicating bicyclists’ imminent actions through the grid of LEDs on the rider’s back.

  Customer: The Bay Area is home to a great community of people who rely on bicycles to commute between home, school, and work. There are also millions of recreation and professional cyclists world-wide. This product would allow all cyclists to ride with more confidence in low-light conditions than current technologies allow. This technology would also be great for night-time walkers, runners, motorcyclists--anyone who needs to be visible when it’s dark!

  Do-ability: We are three engineering majors (electrical and computer) with the know-how to bring this product to life. We have experience with all the necessary engineering skills including microcontrollers, LEDs, product design, and testing. We also are walkers, runners, and bicyclists ourselves, which has given us great awareness of the impact which this product would make.

Mechanical de-scaling (the process of physically taking apart a water pipeline structure in order to remove build up) and chemical removal are not welcome solutions to this common issue. Mechanical action can cause damage to fine chrome or brass finishes and chemical removal requires strong acids for dissolution, a procedure posing an unhealthy situation for the consumer and may damage the surrounding showerhead trim. Moreover, the chemical residue from the chemical procedure is unsuited with current consumer environmental standards.

  By licensing our product patent rights to existing showerhead manufacturers we are able to easily integrate our product and meet consumer demands for a more “green” and cost saving product. Our product minimizes manufacturer costs by augmenting existing shower heads. H2O Soft Touch requires an aperatured rubber insert, drilling a small air hole at the base of the showerhead, and utilizes the natural change in pressure when a shower is turned on and off. Due to the change in pressure a vacuum is created allowing the showerhead to fully drain.

  Implementation of such a simple concept allows us to create healthier, softer water, one showerhead at a time.
